A downloadable game

Boxx is a small platform game that was originally made in 2014 for the Commodore Amiga. But it was made with Backbone so it had poor performance. Now, in 2023, the game is ported to the much better Scorpion Engine and runs a lot smoother.

This remake has updated graphics, sfx and new code based on Boxx 4 (now available).

Boxx Remake v.0.5 :-)

Version 0.5 HDD works great here on A1200 030. Thanks for updating so quick to last SE.

Good! I haven't worked on Boxx Remake since the last update because I had to finish Boxx 4 which is now released. :)

I know ;-) I play Boxx 4 already and it is great!

Hi Lemming880
I just inserted the longplay of Boxx Remake and then I played a bit the original one to compare them ;)
It's a video for the large italian Amiga community ;)
Cheers again for the game!

Nice longplay thanks!

thx ;)

Hi Lemming80
I have 2 questions:
- What means Performance Mode in Controls Menu?
- What change in the game setting Hard Difficulty? I tried 1st Level and I didn't see differents than Normal

Thx!

When performance mode is enabled, it disables falling coin animations. Multiple falling coins cause frame dips on A500 so this can help.

On Hard mode enemies do more damage. And energy and life potions will not spawn. You don't really feel it's harder. You just run out of hearts sooner.

Some examples:

Patrolling enemy damage:
easy -16.6% energy
medium -25% energy
hard -50% energy

Turret damage:
easy -25% energy
medium -33.3% energy
hard -50% energy

Spikes damage:
easy -25% energy
medium -50% energy
hard -100% energy

Ok! Understood!
Thx for very accurate reply! ;)

Great. Thanks for the update! A good step forward in gameplay with the "Mario" optimisations. Like it!

Good to hear!

A great game!

Yay you beat the boss :D

Really nice game! Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 03:40:56. Automatic subtitles should be available soon (switch on, if necessary). Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. :-)

Thanks for playing.

Finished it on hard mode.

Big improvement!

Hey well done.

very good

what game engine are you using

Scorpion Engine (based on Unity).

One of our family favorites since 2014. Gameplay and sound are awesome. Very cool retro feeling. In wintertimes the kids asking often to play the BOXX series on the A1200. This new creation with scorpion is so much better. Thanks for that. Looking forward to see the others maybe. Our absolute masterpiece is Boxx3.

Nice to hear the game has long time fans! Remaking the others is something I at least like to try. But first Boxx 4. :)

Like it! Very nice gfx and music. Seams the game got some bugs but it is beta. It is very smooth and nice to play. Tested on A1200/030

Ty. What bugs did you find?

(1 edit)

It was level 3 or 4. One handle did not open the gate. At the same place it is another handle under to the left for it. It worked the first time I played, 2nd time it did not.

I've seen it too now. At the end of level 4 a hatch didn't open (in the second playthrough). Will try to find a solution, thanks.

I really appreciate your efforts and happy to test and report any bugs I can find. Keep on the great work!

Lovely game, great visuals and music.

Very enjoyable, thanks a lot :-)

You're welcome.

Awesome game!
